One of the best players I have seen in a West Ham shirt for about 3 months after he arrived. Sadly went down with a large dose of Allarditis and has never been the same since.

You were all the same mugs saying we didn't need Ogbonna.
Look like dickheads now dont you? So you're likely to be wrong about Song too, I'd imagine. For the record he's had some good games for us this season, just unlucky to be in a really god squad. I'd keep him all day long but doubt he'll want to sit on the bench.

People probably defended McCartney and Mullins as they usually played to the best of their ability. If Song were to do that everyone here would love him.
Pretty simple to understand that, I'd have thought.

It really is quite funny. We've had some seriously shit players like McCartney and Mullins who loads on here defended. Yet here we have a top player who compliments our squad superbly, as demonstrated at Everton, and the wolves (who have probably never played a decent standard themselves) are writing him off as shit. Hilarious.

25% of the season to go boys - lets see how the ground lay at the end
I have a funny feeling we might just fancy keeping hold of him

Nagel 12:02 Tue Mar 15 Re: Alex Song I remember watching him at Barcelona, where most games he'd be in a daydream, apparently forgetting that the opposition are allowed to take the ball off you when it's lying at your feet.
At the time I thought it was down to a lack of playing time and sometimes being played in defence rather than midfield but there are only so many excuses you can give someone.
Probably something to do with the 3 to 4 touches he needs before passing the ball.... we used to have a nickname for Tim Breaker.... Timmy Two Touch... well double it with Song

If signing Kante will for once and for all shut up Sir Alf about our fucking midfield I hope we spend out whole summer budget to do it.

I wouldn't give him a new contract on 50000 let alone 100000

Re: Alex Song

Not if he is asking at least £100,000 a week...half of that is probably his true worth but Barcelona went and have him a car-crash contract from a financially prudent point of view and now he wants to maintain it.
He can be good but a lot of times - no cigar

Re: Alex Song

As many say, we can probably do better for the money although wasnt there talk of him being on a free and we pay only the wages? If so, his relative value increases.
What I would like to see is someone like that Kante fella at Leicester. All over the park, closing down, intercepting and with a low centre of gravity, he is able to get out of tight situations and distribute the ball well. He also has one ingredient we can do with more of in the midfield... pace. We are much better this season but a little tiger like aggressive player like Kante would be perfect IMO,
Shame we did not take up the supposed option we had on Kante before Leicester got in last Summer. Hindsight and all that :-)

He's been more RIGOBERT recently.
As Baggins says, Squad player if price is right, ex player if wage demands are unrealistic.

He obviously wasn't like that in his first 3 months here when he had something to prove, but he has been since, so I'm guessing that he has issues with concentration and focus which there's a good chance won't improve if we buy him.
At the moment I don't think he's worth a place on our wage bill, unless he's willing to take a 50% pay cut, and even then it's a gamble that he'll perform adequately on a regular basis.

"don't know enough about the technical side of the game"
I genuinely laughed at that.
What a load of shit.
Mind you, if technical means holding on to the ball for too long, giving the ball away to the opposition constantly and form tailing off in the second half of the season, then sign me up.

His best is behind him. Still a great player but it says something about the new West Ham that we have even better and should be aspiring to sign new players that are even better still.
